EBCF Brazilian Company of Forest Conservation

Project summary

Tucumann, alongside other partners, formed the Brazilian Forest Conservation Company (EBCF), which acquired 20.000 hectares of rainforest areas in the Amazon. The areas will be initially destined to the constitution of Private Reserves of Sustainable Development. In line with the new environmental legislation of the State of Amazonas, which sets mechanisms of preservation of forest areas, EBCF will guarantee the preservation of a part of the largest tropical rainforest in the world, generating resources also from the negotiation of carbon credits and of environmental reserve certificates, where proprietors of other areas can exert the legal compensations of deforestation. Furthermore, EBCF will also make investments toward supporting and developing the many local communities.
